This system is designed to prevent the formation of an over-rich fuel-air mixture when the throttle valve is closed at high engine speeds, such as when changing gears or braking. At idle, a high vacuum from the exhaust manifold is supplied to the throttle valve to keep the valve open at the idle position. When the throttle valve is opened to increase power, the vacuum in the manifold drops and the vacuum that was in the throttle valve also begins to drop through a special control valve. When the accelerator pedal is released, the vacuum in the valve increases and the throttle valve smoothly closes the valve to the idle position.

Checking for functionality

1. Let the engine idle and warm it up to operating temperature. Disconnect the vacuum hose of the throttle valve. The engine speed should increase to 2200 rpm for a manual transmission and to 1900 rpm for an automatic transmission in position N. If the speed is higher, it should be adjusted by the corresponding bending of the key.

1. Let the engine idle and warm it up to…

2. If the rotation speed does not increase, check for vacuum in the hose. If there is vacuum, then the throttle regulator is faulty. If there is no vacuum, then there is a leak somewhere, or the hose is not connected correctly.
