1984-89 Accord, 1984-1987 Prelude

1. Remove the glove box.

2. Disconnect the fan sleeve between the heater box and the fan.
3. Disconnect the electrical wiring and vacuum hose from the fan.
4. Unscrew the three mounting bolts and remove the fan assembly.
5. Install in reverse order, tightening the mounting bolts to 10 Nm. Make sure that the fan mating surfaces are tightly connected. Install the fan sleeve; make sure there are no leaks at the connection points.
1990-91 Accord
1. Remove the glove box.
2. Remove the lower glove box frame mount.
3. If there is no air conditioning, remove the three screws and heater sleeve. Unscrew the fan mounting nuts. Disconnect the wiring from the fan motor, resistor, and recirculation control motor, then remove the fan assembly.

4. If there is an air conditioner, remove the carpet in the car. Remove the side cover. With the ignition off, unscrew the nuts from the control unit brackets, disconnect the five connectors (carefully!) and remove the control unit brackets
5. If there is an air conditioner, remove the bracket and lower covers of the fan. Do not break the hinges on the covers.

6. Unscrew the lock nuts and remove the fan assembly.
7. Install the fan unit and tighten the lock nuts.
8. On vehicles with air conditioning, install the lower covers and bracket.
9. Install the control unit brackets and carefully connect the electrical wire connectors in the correct order. Install the side cover and lay the mat.
10. Connect the wiring to the fan. On cars without air conditioning, install the fan sleeve and screw it on.
11. Install the frame mount and then the glove box. Note that part of the frame is finished with double-sided tape, replace the tape during assembly if necessary.
1988-1991 Prelude
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the glove box and frame (bottom).

3. Unscrew 4 screws and remove the heater sleeve.
4. Unscrew the 3 mounting bolts.
5. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the fan motor, resistor, and recirculation controller. Remove the fan motor assembly.

6. Reassemble in reverse order. Make sure the fan mating surfaces are tightly connected. Install the fan sleeve, make sure there are no leaks at the joints.
