A) Remove brake drums.
b) Check lining/brake pad thickness.
Nominal Thickness:
- left-hand drive models - 4.5 mm
right hand drive models:
- 2WD - 4.3mm
- 4WD - 4.5mm
Minimum lining thickness:
- left hand drive models - 2.0 mm
- right hand drive models - 1.0 mm
Replace brake pads if necessary.
Note: Replace brake pads as a set (right and left side at the same time), if at least one of the linings of the block has a minimum or lesser thickness.
2. Checking the brake drum.
A) Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Nominal diameter:
- left hand drive models - 199.9 - 200.0 mm
right hand drive models:
- 2WD - 180.0mm
- 4WD - 200.0mm
Maximum allowable diameter:
- left hand drive models - 201 mm
right hand drive models:
- 2WD - 181mm
- 4WD - 201mm
b) Check the inner surface of the drum for cracks, unevenness and uneven surface wear.
V) Repair or replace drum if necessary. Drums with only minor defects are subject to repair.
G) When repairing or replacing the drum, check the tightness of the brake pads. Apply chalk to the working surface of the drum and check the tightness of the pads.
Attention: remove the chalk from the surface of the drum and pads after checking.
