The DRL system is available on Canadian market models and provides forced activation of the headlights when the engine is running. The headlights can be turned off without turning off the engine by applying the parking brake. After releasing the parking brake, the headlights will remain on until the ignition is turned off, even if the brake is applied again.

When the DRL system is activated, the headlights operate in an economical mode, which helps to avoid premature failure of the lamps.
