Sound signal — description and verification (Honda HR-V 1)

This area contains the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) components. Review the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures before performing repairs or maintenance.

Note: Left hand drive model shown; the layout on the right-hand drive model is similar.

Testing the sound signal

1. Disconnect the 1-pin connector from the horn.



2. Test the horn by applying battery power to the contact and grounding the bracket. The horn should sound.

3. If the horn does not sound, replace it.

Testing the switch

1. Remove the lower pocket on the driver's side (see Ch. "Body").



2. Disconnect the 4-[3]-pin connector from the coil wire.



3. Check for continuity between contact No.4 [2] of the spiral wire and ground in all switch positions.

• If there is continuity, the horn switch is OK.
• If there is no conductivity, proceed to step 4.

4. Remove the airbag assembly.

5. Check for continuity between terminal No.4 [2] of the coil wire and the positive terminal of the horn switch.

• If there is continuity, replace the horn switch (airbag assembly).
• If there is no continuity, replace the coil wire and check for proper operation.
