Disassembly and assembly of rear drive shafts:
1 - retaining ring,
2 - outer race of the inner joint,
3 - inner race of the inner joint,
4 - separator,
5 - ball,
6 - clamp,
7 - inner hinge cover,
8 - drive shaft,
9 - outer hinge cover,
10 - outer hinge.
Inner hinge
1. Remove the retaining ring (B) from the inner joint shaft (A).
2. Remove the boot clamp. To remove the clamp, follow these steps:
Caution: Do not damage the case.
(Clamp type 2)
Squeeze the clamp (A) with pliers (B) as shown in the figure.
(Welded clamp) Using wire cutters, cut the clamp (C).
(Clamp type 1)Bend up the protruding part (E) of the clamp (D) and press on the lock (F).
3. Remove the retaining ring (A).
4. Apply marks (D) to the joint separator (C) and the outer race of the inner joint (B). Wrap the outer race with a rag (E) and remove it.
Note: Apply marks so that the position of the separator relative to the outer race of the joint can be clearly identified.
Attention: when removing the clip, be careful not to drop the ball joints.
5. Apply marks (D) to the drive shaft (A), inner race of the joint (B) and separator (C).
6. Remove the retaining ring (E).
7. Remove the six balls (F) and remove the inner race of the joint (B) from the separator (C).
8. Wind the protective tape (C) onto the splines of the drive shaft (A). Remove the boot (B).
Caution: Do not damage the case.
9. Remove the protective tape.
External hinge
1. Remove the clamp (similar to removing it for the inner joint).
2. Remove the outer hinge cover (A).
3. Remove grease from the drive shaft (A) and outer joint (B).
4. Using the ruler (C), make a mark (D) as shown in the figure above.
5. Wrap the drive shaft (A) with a rag (B) and clamp it in a vice (C).
6. Using the special tool, remove the outer joint (D) from the drive shaft.
7. Remove the retaining ring (B) of the drive shaft (A).
8. Wind the protective tape (A) around the splines of the drive shaft.
9. Remove the outer hinge cover (B).
10. Remove the protective tape.
