Warning! The car models covered in this manual are equipped with an additional security system (SRS). Before doing any work near the airbag unit, steering column or instrument panel, turn off the SRS to avoid injury if it is accidentally deployed (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment). SRS circuit wiring is easily identified by the yellow color of the insulation.
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Attention! If the stereo system installed in the car is equipped with a security code, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the correct combination to activate the audio system!
2. Remove the finishing sections of the instrument panel (see Section Removal and installation of finishing sections of the panel of devices) and assembly of the center console (see Section Removal and installation of the center console).
3. Remove the instrument cluster (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment) and glove box (see Section Removal and installation of finishing sections of the panel of devices).
4. If the car is equipped with the appropriate equipment, disconnect the electrical wiring and remove the passenger airbag (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment).
5. Remove the radio assembly from the central part of the instrument panel (see chapter Onboard electrical equipment).
6. Remove the knee brace (see Section Removal and installation of finishing sections of the panel of devices), then remove the steering column mounting bolts and lower it down, ensuring that the main section of the instrument panel can be easily removed.
7. Remove the coin box from the bottom of the driver's air duct deflector and release the two fixing screws located under it. Release the upper and central clamps and remove the deflector, disconnecting the electrical wiring of the top hatch drive and the tempostat (with appropriate equipment).
8. Using a screwdriver, remove the passenger air duct deflector.
Attention! To avoid damage to the surface of the instrument panel, glue the grill around the perimeter with adhesive tape.
9. When dismantling the main section of the instrument panel, it is necessary to disconnect many electrical connectors. It would be wise to pre-label them.
10. Turn out all bolts of fastening of the main part of the panel of devices to a car body. Raise the panel (in addition to bolts, it is fastened in the middle with three plastic pins) and, separating it from the windshield, remove it from the passenger compartment through the driver's door.
11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
