Accord 1985
1. Leave the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the main relay connector.
3. Connect the tester's positive lead to the yellow/blue wire in the connector and to the ground wire - the tester's negative lead. The tester should show battery voltage.
4. If there is no voltage, check the wires between the battery and the main relay, as well as between the computer fuse in the engine compartment.
5. Connect the positive tester lead to the black/yellow wire of the connector and the negative tester lead to the ground wire.
6. Turn on the ignition and the tester will show the voltage of the battery.
7. If there is no voltage, check the wires from the ignition key and the main relay, as well as fuse No. 11.
8. Connect the positive tester lead to the red/blue wire in the connector and the negative lead to "earth".
9. Turn the ignition key to position "START". Look at the tester readings.
10. If there is no voltage, check the wires between the ignition key and the main relay, as well as to the #21 starter fuse.
11. Using the connecting wire, short the yellow-blue and black-yellow wires in the connector. The fuel pump should work.
12. If the pump does not work, check the wires between the battery and the fuel pump and the wire from the fuel pump to "earth" (black wire).
Accord 1985-89 and Prelude 1986-89
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the main relay connector.
3. On 1987-89 models, check for continuity between the black wire in the connector and the ground wire.
4. Connect the tester's positive tester lead to the yellow/blue wire in the connector, and the tester's negative tester lead to "earth". (On models 87-89 it is the black wire). The tester should show battery voltage.
5. If there is no voltage, check the wires between the battery and the main relay, as well as the No. 1 fuse in the engine compartment.
6. Connect the positive tester lead to the black/yellow wire of the connector and the negative lead to the ground wire. (On 87-89 models, this is a black wire.)
7. Turn on the ignition. The tester should show battery voltage.
8. If there is no voltage, check the wire from the ignition switch and main relay, as well as the #1 fuse on the Accord or the regulator fuse on the Prelude.
9. Connect the positive tester lead to the red-blue (by ACCORD car) or black and white (by car PRELUDE) wire in the connector and connect the negative tester probe to the ground wire. (On models 87-89 - black wire).
10. Turn the ignition key to position "START". The tester should show battery voltage.
11. If there is no voltage, check the wiring between the ignition switch and the main relay as well as the #10 fuse on ACCORD or the starter signal fuse on PRELUDE.
12. Connect the jumper wire between the yellow-blue (black and yellow for 1987-89) and yellow wire for ACCORD car (yellow-blue and yellow-black wire for 1986 PRELUDE and black-yellow and yellow-black for 198789 PRELUDE) in socket. The fuel pump should work.
13. If the pump does not work - check the wire between the battery and the fuel pump and the wire from the fuel pump to ground (black wire).
