Description of the diagnostic system
The electronic control unit has a fault protection system that can detect a malfunction in the system. When the key is turned in the ignition switch to position "ON" checking the components of the automatic transmission. When a malfunction is detected, the indicator on the instrument cluster flashes "D".
Reading trouble codes
1. Set the ignition switch to the "OFF".
2. Connect the diagnostic tool to the diagnostic connector DLC (A).
3. Turn on the ignition and read the trouble codes. For detailed information on the procedure for reading fault codes, see the instruction manual for the diagnostic tool.
4. After reading the codes and troubleshooting, clear the codes (see subsection "Deleting trouble codes").
5. Switch off the ignition and disconnect the diagnostic tool from the diagnostic socket.
Deleting trouble codes
1. Connect a diagnostic tool and, with the engine off, clear the trouble codes.
2. After removal of codes of malfunctions switch off ignition.
3. Turn on the ignition for 30 seconds and then turn it off.
4. Disconnect the diagnostic tool.
Clearing the memory of the control unit
The procedure for clearing the memory of the control unit is described in the chapter "fuel injection system".
