Examination
1. Check ring gear teeth for wear and damage.
2. Check the contact surface of the flywheel under the clutch disc for wear, cracks and overheating.
3. Measure the flywheel runout with a dial gauge for at least two full turns. Compress the flywheel as it rotates to eliminate crankshaft thrust washer clearance.
Note: Runout can be measured with the motor installed.
- Standard (new): 0.05mm
- Limit: 0.15mm
If the runout is out of range, replace the flywheel and recheck the runout.
Replacement
1. Install the special tool as shown in the figure.
2. Loosen the flywheel mounting bolts crosswise in several passes and remove the flywheel.
3. Install the flywheel in the reverse order of removal.
