Note:
- Use thick lead wires for testing.
- Do not apply voltage for more than 5 seconds.
- Use a fully charged battery for testing.
1. Checking the pull-in winding of the traction relay.
Connect the starter as shown in the picture. Make sure the pinion moves out.

2. Checking the holding winding. With the connections made as described in the previous paragraph and the driving gear of the overrunning clutch extended, disconnect the wire from the "M" terminal. Make sure that the driving gear remains extended.

3. Checking the retraction of the gear. Disconnect the wire from the traction relay housing. Make sure that the driving gear of the overrunning clutch is quickly retracted inward.

4. Checking the starter operation without load.
a) Place the starter in a vice and make the connection as shown in the figure.
b) Make sure that the rotation speed and current correspond to the nominal values.
- Nominal current is less than 50 A
- Nominal speed - above 6000 rpm
