On a 1984-89 ACCORD, the wiper system is operated by a relay located on the fuse box under the dash. The relay controls the cycling of the wiper by supplying current to the wipers every 5-6 seconds. The relay is removed from the fuse box.
On ACCORD cars since 1990, and on PRELUDE cars since 1988, an on-board computer is used. On a PRELUDE car, it is located under the dashboard between the accelerator pedal and the heater box. The integrated on-board computer manages wiper cycling as well as other processes that require precise timing: seat belt buzzers, key bells, entry lights, etc. In addition, a separate interrupt switch is located under the relay box on the ACCORD in the right rear corner of the engine compartment. On a 1984-87 PRELUDE, the wiper interrupt relay is located under the dashboard, just to the right of the steering column. It is removed after disconnecting the wires and removing the mounting bolt.
