Airbag device
The driver's and front passenger's frontal airbags deploy in the event of a severe frontal impact and help mitigate head impact.
The airbag system does not replace seat belts, so be sure to fasten your seat belts.
Deployment conditions for front airbags
The front airbags are activated when the ignition key is in the «II». In a severe frontal impact (when even with the seat belts fastened, the head can hit the steering wheel) the sensor actuates the airbag system, the airbags instantly deploy and help mitigate the impact on the head of the driver and front passenger. In addition, depending on the severity of the impact and the condition of the fastened seat belts, the airbags and pretensioners of the driver's and front passenger's seat belts are activated independently. Therefore, in a collision, the pretensioner and airbag on only one side may be deployed.
Caution: Do not touch airbag components immediately after deployment, as they are hot and may cause burns.
Note:
- The system does not work if the car body has sufficiently extinguished the impact.
- The airbags deploy instantly and can cause bruises, burns, etc.
- After deploying, the pillows are also deflated instantly, freeing up visibility.
- When the airbags deploy, white smoke is emitted, which is not a fire and does not have a harmful effect on health.
- Airbags are not reusable, so contact a workshop after they have deployed.
Driver's frontal airbag
Front passenger airbag
The front passenger airbag is also deployed when there is no passenger.
Deployment of frontal airbags
The airbags deploy when:
Note: The airbags may not deploy on impact with objects that deform and cushion the impact upon impact.
The airbags may also deploy in the event of a severe impact from the roadway.
The airbags may not deploy depending on the severity, location, and direction of the impact.
Note: The system may not work if the vehicle body has sufficiently absorbed the shock.
When the airbags don't deploy
The airbags will not deploy in situations where the safety of crew members can only be secured by seat belts, such as in a low speed collision or in the following situations:
Depending on the nature of the accident, the airbags may sometimes deploy.
SRS warning lamp
Illuminates when a malfunction is detected in the SRS system.
Normally, the SRS warning light comes on when the ignition key is turned to «II» and goes out after approx. 6 sec.
