Examination
If there are components of an additional security system nearby, during work see ch. Additional passive safety system (SRS).
1. Disconnect the 6-pin connector from the fuse box on the driver's side.
2. Check the continuity between different contacts at different positions of the ignition key and make sure that there is continuity between the contacts shown in the figure.
Steering column lock replacement
If there are components of an additional security system nearby, during work see ch. Additional passive safety system (SRS).
Withdrawal
1. Remove the bottom center dashboard cover (see ch. Body) and steering column cover (see ch. Steering).
2. Disconnect the 7-pin connector from the steering column beam wiring and the 5-pin connector from the fuse box on the driver's side.
3. Remove the mounting bolts and nuts from the steering column and lower the steering column assembly (see ch. Steering).
4. Using a punch, make a mark in the center of the set bolt and drill a hole with a diameter of 4-5 mm.
Attention. Be careful not to damage the threads in the switch housing while drilling.
5. Drive a screw remover into the set bolt, turn the screw remover counterclockwise and remove the set bolt.
Installation
1. Without inserting the key, install the lock on the steering column and tighten the set bolt by hand.
Align the lug of the lock with the hole in the steering column.
2. Insert the key and check that the key turns smoothly and the steering column locks.
3. Tighten the set bolt until the end of the taper thread.
