2. Incorrect selection of wheels and tires can adversely affect handling, wheel and bearing life, brake cooling, speedometer/odometer accuracy, braking distance, headlight direction, bumper height, ground clearance, and tire-to-body clearance.
Depending on the type of tires, the following disks are installed, indicated in the table "Correspondence of tire sizes with wheel disk parameters". As an example, possible markings are given:
- 6JJx15H5 ET45 PC D100 DIA56
In the wheel disk marking, the first digit "5" denotes the rim width (H), expressed either in millimeters) or in inches. The letters "JJ" denote the rim shape. The subsequent number "15" denotes the wheel disk seat diameter (D) in inches, which must correspond to the seat diameter of the tire being installed. The number "45" after the letters ET denotes the disk offset (ET) in millimeters. The marking also contains the following designations: "H5" denotes the presence of five holes for mounting bolts or studs, the numbers after the designation "DIA" are the diameter of the central hole, "PCD" is the diameter of the holes' arrangement for mounting bolts or studs.
