If your vehicle needs to be towed, call a professional towing service. Do not tow your vehicle with another vehicle using only a rope or chain. This is very dangerous.
There are three most common methods of towing a car.
On the loading platform
The operator loads the car onto the platform of a truck. This is the best method of transportation.
With wheel lift
The towing vehicle has two pivoting arms that are moved under the wheels (front or rear) and lift them off the ground. The other two wheels remain on the ground.
Using slinging equipment
The towing vehicle has metal cables with hooks at the ends. These hooks are inserted into parts of the frame or suspension, and the vehicle is lifted off the ground by the cables on that side. This method of towing can seriously damage the suspension or body of the vehicle.

If it is not possible to transport the 2WD HR-V model on a flatbed, then towing should be done with the front wheels raised off the ground. However, if due to damage the vehicle has to be towed with the front wheels on the ground, do the following:
- Release the parking brake.
- Shift the transmission into neutral (N) position.
The 4WD HR-V is recommended to be towed on a flatbed only. Towing with all four wheels on the ground is also possible.
Note: Towing a 4WD HR-V with only two wheels on the ground can damage the 4WD system components. If the vehicle is damaged and cannot be towed with all four wheels on the ground, it should be towed on a flatbed truck.
When towing a 4WD HR-V model with all four wheels on the ground, follow these steps:
- Release the parking brake.
- Shift the transmission into neutral (N) position.
Warning:
- If the preparation for towing is not carried out correctly, the transmission can be damaged. Follow the above procedure carefully. If you cannot shift the transmission or start the engine (automatic transmission), the vehicle should be transported on a flatbed truck.
- It is not advisable to tow a vehicle further than 80 km and at a speed greater than 55 km/h.
- If you try to lift or tow the car by the bumpers, you will seriously damage them. The bumpers cannot support the weight of the car.
Tow Hook and Loop Locations
Towing hook:
- Remove the cover on the front bumper.
- Screw the front tow hook securely into the threaded hole.
