Before checking the heater, check fuse #53 (30A) of the relay box and fuse #3 (7.5A) of the driver's side fuse box.

2. Turn the ignition key to the ON (II) position.

3. Turn on the rear window defroster and make sure there is battery voltage between the (+) and (-) terminals.

If there is no battery voltage, check the following.
  • The rear window heater relay is working properly (see above).
  • Breakage and condition of electrical wiring connection.
  • Ground status (G401, G552).

If there is battery voltage, check the following.

4. Connect the (+) of the voltmeter to the center of each heating element, and connect the (-) of the voltmeter to the (-) contact. Make sure that the voltmeter shows a voltage of approximately 6V.



If the voltage is normal, the heating element is working properly.

If the voltage is different from the specified one, repair the heating element.
  • If there is battery voltage, the break point is between the center and the (-) contact.
  • If there is no voltage, the break point is between the center and the (+) contact.
